In no particular order, here is a list of policies, rules, and regulations that will apply to Don's Domain:
- Politeness and civility should be practiced at all times. Disagreement should be tolerated, but rudeness should not.
- I am sole judge, jury, and executioner insofar as appropriateness of posts is concerned. Quite simply, for any reason whatsoever, if I don't want your post to remain on the board, I will delete it. I may provide an explanation for removing it, but I may not. In a word, this is not a democracy, and your ability to post here is a privilege and not a right. As such, that privilege might be revoked at any time. (I trust that this will never happen.)
- Having said this, I fully expect to have to exercise that "authority" only rarely. Please note that, since I originally wrote these words, more than five years ago, I have probably not deleted a dozen posts from these pages. Such is the extent of the camaraderie and politeness displayed here. This has proven to be a wonderful board, filled with interesting discussions and much useful blackjack information. But, you have my ironclad guarantee that this is all the pages are ever going to contain!
- My colleagues and I will try to be prompt with our responses, and many of us will be checking the board several times a day. But, if we don't answer immediately, simply understand that there must be a good reason, and be patient. If I ever need to be off-line for a while, I will make sure to notify you ahead of time, if at all possible.
- While most questions may be answered by any one of our Masters, if you have a special request, which you feel ought to be directed to one specific individual, feel free to preface your Subject with: "For Don," for example.
- Our panel of Masters will be complemented by the ongoing presence of many other top names on the blackjack scene. We expect to have these experts drop by quite often, and we welcome their participation.
- It would be nice if this could continue to be a high-class site, with care given to the language of posts. You don't have to be a Shakespearean scholar, but correct spelling and grammar are a rare commodity for Web pages such as these, and accuracy of expression has set this page apart from most other Internet areas. Use of a spell-checker might be a good idea, if that skill is not your forte. As a starter, you might want to be careful with "lose" (opposite of "win"), which, no matter what you think, is not spelled "loose" (!); "its" (meaning "belonging to it"), which, wonder of wonders, does not have an apostrophe ("it's" means "it is"); and "you're" ("you are"), which you wouldn't spell incorrectly ("your") if only you would pronounce it correctly! It's "yoor" (rhymes with "sure") and not "yore" (rhymes with "bore").
- I will not entertain, on this site, any discussion whatsoever on the topics of betting progressions, card-clumping, or TARGET. These are asinine, bogus, time-wasting subjects that have no place on a serious board.
- Finally, and I hate to end on a downer, the posts of two individuals are automatically excluded from this site, if they are signed "Clarke Cant" or "stalker." Whereas I cannot prevent their participation here, should they sign on to the site and post under pseudonyms, I can and will prevent their presenting any comments over the aforementioned signatures.
- If you've made it this far and can abide all of the above, thank you for your participation in Don's Domain: Home of the Masters of Blackjack. Let's all try to have some fun!
