El Cortez

Jackie's Club
This slot club, which opened August 1, 2002 began with rather large signup bonuses to the public. These bonuses included a free T-shirt and 4000 slot points ($8 value). Definitely, the 4000 points could not be redeemed without some play; but the value of these points is larger than usual opening bonuses.

Initially, one slot point was awarded for each dollar won on the machines with the points redeemable for cash at the rate of one dollar for 500 points or for complimentaries at the rate of $1.25 in comps for 500 points.

Within months, El Cortez found that this coin-out system, i.e. points awarded for credits won, was unpopular and switched to a coin-in system, i.e. points awarded for credits played. Now one point is awarded to the slot card user for each dollar played.

The redemption rates remained the same.

Slot accounts may be deleted after 18 months of inactivity.

Food: El Cortez has no buffet. However, the slot points can be used at all the eateries at the rate of 250 points for each $1.00 in food. This is an increase of 100% over taking cash, plus one avoids sales tax on the food purchase.
