Dan is a retired computer engineer and programmer. He became interested in video poker after moving to Las Vegas in 1989. His first endeavor was to survey the casinos and publish a directory of good video poker opportunities in Las Vegas. Not satisfied with the strategies then available, he put his 30+ years of computer experience to use analyzing games, put it all together, and published Video Poker — Precision Play in 1992. Starting at 44 pages in 1992, it evolved as new games and questions came up that were not covered. Then, in 1998, the 68-page tenth edition was replaced by Dan's 199-page book, Video Poker — Optimum Play, which is now in its second edition.

He published the Video Poker Times newsletter from 1993 through 2006, adding pocket-size cue cards and other booklets, including All the Best of Video Poker Times, along the way. Dan still plays video poker frequently, and live table poker occasionally, and has recently retired to New Mexico to be near his family.

DO YOU LIKE TO SING?

If you love to sing, you should find out about the joys of singing 4-part a capella harmony in a barbershop chorus or quartet. You don't have to be a professional singer. We are mostly amateurs. If you can carry a tune, you will be welcome at any of the many barbershop chapters across the country and associated chapters in several foreign countries. Any age and race is welcome. (There are chapters for the ladies, too.) More information.
